Our new Williamsburg Northside curriculum guide 2012-2013!

Our new Williamsburg Northside Summer Program for 2013!!
Infant & Toddler Center (ITC)

As is true with all of Northside's programs, The Infant & Toddler Center is inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to Early Childhood Education. To that end, the specially trained teachers at the ITC believe that children, from the beginning of their lives, bring their own personalities, wishes, preferences and curiosities to each experience. Therefore, each child's interests are honored and integrated into the curriculum.
The ITC curriculum specializes in meeting the needs of infants and toddlers in a nurturing environment, where they are introduced to many different forms of play and media to broaden their understanding of the world around them. With teachers who are experienced in working with this age group, the children are introduced and encouraged to interact with their environment and with each other in a way that works to satisfy their curiosities. The teachers value their dual role of caregiver and teacher and provide an emergent curriculum that focuses in on all areas of development including feeding, napping, toilet training, rolling, crawling, walking, running, dancing, climbing, painting, pretending, block building, singing, socializing, communicating and enjoying, just to name a few. Children are empowered to try out new things on a daily basis as they work on mastering the many, many developmental milestones they approach and ultimately succeed at during this time of their lives. And teachers are eager to support the process and to share in the victories of each child with their family as they hit those milestones.
In addition to what happens in the classroom the classes receive music (all ages) and art (1 year olds and older) once a week. Please inquire as to which days these are held when considering your child's schedule.
The ITC is open year-round and admissions are rolling and contingent on availability. Children are enrolled for the year (September through August). The day runs from 8am - 6pm and parents can sign up for 2, 3 or 5 days a week (parents will choose their own schedules).
